The Neighbourhood Contracts I represented an occasion to promote useful experiences in those areas where urban growth processes – particularly strong in the 70ies – produced residential settlements lacking in environmental quality and services. These areas were then stigmatised both for the absence of recognisable places and for the poorness of housing in comparison with other more consolidated areas of the territory.
The Ministry of Public Works funded 2 contracts selected by Piedmont Region and led by the City of Turin and the City of Pinerolo for a total amount of nearly 15 million euros, out of a global investment of about 19 million euros.
