Neighbourhood Contacts are innovative tools of intervention funded by Gescal Funds (Social Housing Funds) with the purpose of renewing neighbourhoods characterised by a scattered physical and environmental decay, lack of services, poor social cohesion and strong housing discomfort. They oversee a co-ordinated intervention involving different public players (Municipalities, Regions and Central Government) and they can also include a joint work between pubic and private sector. The direct involvement of local stakeholders, residents first and foremost, is fundamental. As State and Regional financial resources are only available for refurbishment and urbanisation works, all the other actions are entirely funded by Municipalities and, in the event, by other public and private subjects.
