NEW LIGHTING IN CORSO GIULIO CESARE

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Within the context of the project for the renewal of the public lighting systems in the Porta Palazzo Borgo Dora area (see sheet, "Lighting Project"), Azienda Energetica Metropolitana Torino S.p.A., on behalf of the City of Turin, has carried out an intervention in relation to the corso Giulio Cesare lateral lanes. Along the lateral lanes, in particular on the eastern side, there are commercial type activities. The lighting systems must therefore also satisfy needs of an aesthetic type. A lighting system has been chosen which resolves both functional tasks and those of urban furnishing, by means of the positioning of spot lights which recall those that used to be in the area. The spot lights have been agreed with the City Urban Image and Fittings Sector and recall, in a modern and functional guise, the system solutions for the first electrically supplied lighting systems. The lighting equipment is provided with symmetrical-asymmetrical emission optics, for a correct control of the luminous flow, with limited diffusion of the same upwards, in line with recent dispositions concerning the limitation of light pollution.
In this context the lighting equipment is provided with metallic halide vapour lamps of a power capable of providing the level of illumination required by the standards and by PRIC, but which, at the same time, also permit excellent illumination from the qualitative point of view, which is well adapted to the requalification of the location.

DECORATIVE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHURCH OF SAN GIOACHINO
This has focused on the valorisation of the architectonic patrimony of the building, underlining the verticality of the facades by means of a semi-raking illumination which is perfectly integrated with the façade.
Special projectors have been positioned, using appropriate brackets anchored to the walls. The lighting equipment is provided with xenon lamps and supplied at low voltage using a voltage transformer.
The lower part of the building is lit by projectors placed in appropriate niches cut into the paving. These units are provided with asymmetric optics to contain the light flow within the perimeter of the facade.

DECORATIVE LIGHTING OF THE TURIN-CIRIÈ-LANZO RAILWAY STATION
Here too for the lighting of the façade of the architectonic complex in relation to the railway station, which represents a typical example a head station for smaller railways of the late 19th century, projectors have been used placed in appropriate niches. This equipment is provided with asymmetric optics to contain the light flow within the perimeter of the facade. The entrance hall is lit up using the projectors placed on the walls, so as to make the columns stand out. All the interventions are intended to emphasise the strong architectonic presence and the amenity provided by the new systems will make it easier to discover and appreciate the location.

DATA
The intervention was carried out in November 2000 and ended with its inauguration on 25 November in the presence of the deputy mayor, Carpanini.
Total for the investment: L.439,400,000
