Porta Palazzo is a problematic as well as a stimulating district: every day on the square stage opens and closes one of the greatest markets in Europe, with 40.000 persons and 15 tons of trash, every day we are witness of the cohabitation difficulties of a population that assembles the 20% of the urban immigration, continuously more or less legal little activities and shops born and die, people looking for low price renting come and go, with initiatives and projects of the Administration and of several local actors, public and private ones, who aim to improve the district life. During last years the attention payed to the Porta Palazzo district has grown up: the public Administration, the European Union Commission, Ministries but also privat bodies and enterpreneurs have begun a process of resources investment that the Porta Palazzo Project Committee feels a duty to tell about. For this reason we proposed to put on the net a data bank that holds, gives details and describes all intervention and all activities that in the last years have given a contribution to the rebirding process of the Porta Palazzo and Borgo Dora area. It is not only about the actions tied to the European Project The Gate. With 30 April 2002, in fact, The Gate is concluded. Introduced in 1996 from the City of Torino to the European Union and financed from it, it has given to life to the Committee Project Porta Palazzo. But the rebirth of Porta Palazzo doesn't stop and the same Committee is in a phase of redesign in order not to abandon the begun distances. We have therefore chosen to re-unite in an unique database the initiatives re-entering in the 19 set actions of the institutional Project The Gate (evidenced with a red title) and those to which The Gate it has participated in part or for nothing (green title). We hope, with this initiative, to give visibility to the process trigged off in the last period in Porta Palazzo: the regeneration intervention carried out have stimulated other bodies and other protagonists to invest on this district. This process has just begun . We want to promote the results so that the initiatives born on this initial spur don't get lost just now.
