To identify a new allocation for the area of
the ex-railway station Torino-Ceres, in order to combine the commercial
attraction of Porta Palazzo with cultural and recreational initiatives,
the Progetto Porta Palazzo Committee has promoted a Community Planning
where the point of view of citizens and opinions from some economics
and cultural operators from the neighbour and the town, could be transformed
in a detailed plan of the new allocations.
The project has, afterwards,
followed two steps:
- Mission at London (October 1999) of a group
composed by administrators and technicians of The Gate Project,
in order to verify, through the analysis of similar experiences
achieved in England, the potentiality and the method for the intervention
on the area of the ex railway station.
- Production of a pre-feasibility Study for the
ex railway station Torino-Ceres, entrusted to the Methodological
Unit of The Gate Project SOFTECH. The Study identified the area
specifically functions, following the citizens' requirements and
the indications of operators interested in investing in different
strategically domains as: Cultural-didactic domain, Gastronomic-entertainment
domain, Commerce and sale.
