San Pietro in Vincoli is a late 18th century cemetery of the quadrangular type with covered portico, lying in an zone bordering the area which "The Gate" Porta Palazzo Project has identified for requalification. The area next to the cemetery is characterised, on the one hand, by transformation processes (see Maglio Courtyard, SERMIG guest-rooms), and on the other, by a road system with poor quality urban fittings and lighting.
To try to satisfy the need for car parking space, including in the light of the new transformations, the needs for a pleasant urban environment, greater security in using the area and the valorisation of a unique example of baroque architecture, "The Gate" Porta Palazzo Project and the New Works Public Land Sector of the Council of Turin, in collaboration with AEM, are implementing a project which involves the creation of a car park of 5000 sq.m. with a capacity of approx. 150 motor vehicles, delightful re-paving and re-fitting of the cemetery and churchyard and new lighting for the area.
