The action, "Fruit of Quality" is intended to requalify the market of agricultural producers in Piazza della Repubblica.
The action is achieved using two technical instruments:

• A new area regulation which specifies the requirements to be respected for the sale of goods in the area;
• Entrusting the management of the area to a third party, able to carry out, in addition to cleaning and maintenance tasks, an information support for producers, a prior control that regulations are being respected, rational organisation of stalls and a coordinated action promoting the market.

The action "Tinned Greens", intended to minimise the refuse linked to the sales activity - both in the area and in the place of production- has in part been assimilated in the activity of the manager and in part in the activity carried out with AMIAT in the whole of Piazza della Repubblica

• The Regulations for the Market of Agricultural Producers of Piazza della Repubblica were approved by the City of Turin, with Municipal Council decision no. mecc. 696/16 of 22 March 2001;
• The "Tender for private Negotiation, subject to publication of the notice, for the management of the market area of agricultural producers of piazza della Repubblica" is currently being carried out and the identification of the manager will be concluded by July 2001.
• The management of the area has been entrusted in October 2001 to the Agriteco Society and will last until June 2002. Within that date, on the base of the collected result, the City of Turin will be able to decide if refinance the management of the area and if subsequently extend the method to other market area

The total estimated investment by "The Gate" Project on the Actions, "Fruit of Quality" and "Tinned Greens" was 384,402 euro, of which 200,194 euro are committed to the tender notice for the management of the market.

The promoter of the action is the Confederation of Direct Producers of the Province of Turin. The action was carried out by the Commerce Sector of the City of Turin, with the contribution of the other sectors involved and of Softech, the Methodological Unit of "The Gate" Project.
