WHAT IT'S ABOUT
During the Giradora event, organised by the
Balôn Traders Association with the aim of experimenting new opening
hours for the market on a periodical basis during weekday evenings (in
June and September), and with the aim of making the area more lively
at times when it is normally abandoned, the Busker Festival took place,
a sweeping view of Italian street theatre. Street theatre today is experiencing
a period of declining popularity among all sections of the public. It
is a form of theatre that has no need of grand scenery or theatre curtains.
Instead it chooses the piazza, the market and the crowded road, in keeping
with a tradition of public involvement which has lasted for centuries.
The Balôn therefore lends itself to this type of animation more
than any other form of theatre.

FOR MORE INFO
Part of the budget available for the Balôn
in the centre promotion and image action was used for the structures
and fittings for these events:
A stage for the organisation of events in the district.
The stage was given to Constituency zone VII because it is available
on request (cost 32 million lire)
A modular structure to be left in use at Constituency
zone VII to stop up the arcades of San Pietro in Vincoli. The Constituency
zone uses the ex-cemetery only during the summer period. To create a
protected area for the winter period the Communication unit of The Gate
Project "Sign & Project" created a structure which can
be installed without modification to the existing arcades which closes
off the nine arcades on the left of the courtyard (financing: 45 million
lire).
