The
Ponte Mosca Centre born from a partnership between the Provincial Administration
of Turin and the Cultural Piemonte Associations Forum. It aims to build
a multifunctional centre in the area of ex Institute Aldo Moro, at the
junction of Lungo Dora Firenze, Via Aosta, Via Brescia e Corso Giulio
Cesare, in front of the bridge built by architect Carlo Bernardo Mosca.
This project is the manifestation of a precise need of the Forum to
find an appropriated home where associations can carry out their activities
in a coordinated way, with the aid of suitable equipments and spaces.
The Forum, set up in 1998, has been joined by around 106 Associations
and Cultural Organizations operating in different sectors: visual arts,
theatre, cinema, music, historical and social studies, didactics, cultural
heritage conservation. The initiative is supported by the neighbourhood
that hopes, in this project, for an opportunity of urban and territorial
requalification, in the wider planning set up by public and private
actors in the area of Porta Palazzo.
The
Ponte Mosca Centre is expected to be a building
of around 17.500 square metres with an underground parking for 530 cars
and a public garden equipped with 8.800 square metres.
It will be able to host the seats of the 60 cultural Associations members
of the Forum, rooms for permanent and temporary exhibitions, a multifunctional
hall (suitable for theatre, music, cinema and conferences), the historical
Library of the Provincial Administration of Turin, the Forum Library,
spaces for cultural production, didactics rooms, rehearsal rooms, stores.
Each space is designed to host different activities and functions: the
520 seats hall will be used to realize theatre and cinema productions,
concerts, conventions and training activities. Halls for exhibitions
will be also transformed in classrooms, the garden and the viewpoint
in spaces for reading and shows.
Belonging to the Centre are a guestrooms with around 100 beds, a restaurant,
a bar, shops, helping in creating a complete cultural and recreational
offer. The Centre will be operating 365 days, on three time bands.
July 1st, expired the term for the Project
Financing call, advertised by the Provincial Administration; proposals
have been examined and it's been chosen the more suitable project on
the base of which it will be announced the call for bits in order to
find the enterprise achieving building works.
In the meanwhile started the promotional activity in the area of the
future yard (taking up in autumn 2003, and whose end is foreseen in
autumn 2005).
