The
"Palazzo" Car Park is one of the projects included in the
Council of Turin Car Parks Urban Programme, created following the "Tognoli"
law no.122 of 1989.
The project, offered for tender in 1995 (the signature of the convention
dates back to August 1996), is one of those created through the identification
of a Concessionaire (A.T.I. ASTADI-APCOA) which was able to use the
contributions provided by the Tognoli law for the construction and management
of the car park.
The concession for the management of the car park will run for 80 years.
From the 30th year the Concessionaire will have to pay the City of Turin
a management fee equal to 5% of the income, to which must be added a
sum equal to 300 times the hourly cost of parking, multiplied by the
places in rotation.
The structure stands in the area of the ex-barracks of the Fire Brigade
of Turin and more specifically in the block included between corso XI
Febbraio, corso Regina Margherita, via Fiocchetto and piazza della Repubblica.
The façade of the original building will be preserved since it
is protected by the Fine Buildings Service. The "Palazzo"
car park has 853 parking spaces, of which 92 are on the ground floor,
destined for sale to private users, and 761 parking spaces are for public
rotational use with precedence given to subscribers. Of the latter,
96 parking spaces situated on the 1st underground floor, 106 parking
spaces on the 2nd underground floor, 109 spaces on the 1st floor, 110
spaces on the 2nd floor, 112 spaces on the 3rd and 4th floor and finally
116 car spaces on the 5th floor. The vehicles entrance, which pedestrians
can also access, is located in corso XI Febbraio and the vehicles exit
is in via Fiocchetto.
The hourly rate is 2,000 lire (for the first and second hour, after
which it is 1,500 lire). Payment cards are also available together with
various forms of subscription.
