Presentation of the CO2-NeuTrAlp

CO2-NeuTrAlpThe Deputy Mayor in charge of Environment, Housing Policies and Green Areas of the City of Torino, Roberto Tricarico, closed the event which, on December 17th at Palazzo Civico, on the occasion of the presentation of the European project CO2-Neutral Transport for the Alpine Space with the participation of the international partners that are part of it, gave the occasion to a panel of experts to discuss about the actual solutions currently available for a sustainable mobility, facing a wide audience. The City takes part in the project as a partner, the International Affairs Department being in charge of the Administrative Management and the Environmental Sustainability and Animal Care Department being in charge of the Technical Management. CO2-NeuTrAlp, financed by the European Territorial Cooperation Programme Alpine Space aims at testing, in different locations of the Alpine region, innovative solutions to cut down the CO2 emission deriving from mobility.

TORINOver in Glasgow and Rotterdam

CAT MEDTORINOver, the show of contemporary video art included in the main programme of Contemporary Art Torino Piemonte, in 2009 goes beyond the borders of the city involving also Torino’s twin cities. From November 16th to 29th, TORINOver 09 - Language generates Worlds is displayed in Glasgow and Rotterdam, respectively at the Buchanan Street and Beurs underground stations. Glasgow and Torino are twin cities since 2003, but the relations between the two cities are lively since the early 80’, while the twinning with Rotterdam dates from 1958 and it’s inspired by many initiatives in the field of culture, arts and youth. 

CAT-MED International Seminar: The Social Dimension Of Environmental Sustainability

CAT MEDThe Deputy Mayor in charge of Environment, Housing Policies and Green areas of the City of Torino, Roberto Tricarico and the Deputy Mayor in charge of Demographic, Electoral, Statistical Services, Cooperation and International Affairs of the City of Torino, Michele Dell’Utri took part to the International Seminar “The Social Dimension of Environmental Sustainability” which took place at the Environment Park within the European project CAT-MED Change Mediterreanean Metropolis Around Time, to which the City of Torino participates through the coordination of the International Affairs Department.   The project, financed by the European Territorial Cooperation MED Program aims to prevent natural risks connected to climatic changes, thanks to the convergence of action strategies undertaken by the metropolis of the Mediterranean area.
On November 12th, in front of a 150 people audience, a panel of experts gathered analyzing and debating the social dimension to consolidate environmental sustainability, without disregarding the overall environmental approach.

BEYOND THE IRON CURTAIN

BEYOND THE IRON CURTAINAt the Cavallerizza Reale inauguration, on September 25th, of the exhibition “Beyond the iron curtain”, on stage until October 4th. The photographic exhibition, portrayed on rust brown iron structures, which symbolize the iron curtain, explains the history of the Polish opposition to the communist regime, the birth of the Solidarnosc movement and the crisis of the soviet system. The last two panels display the Italian solidarity to Solidarnosc. In the opening event takes part Lech Walesa, the historic leader of the movement, host of the City of Torino from September 24th to 27th for a series of meetings related to the inauguration of the exhibition, among which the official welcome of The Deputy Mayor in charge of Demographic, Electoral, Statistical services, Cooperation and International Affairs of the City of Torino, Michele Dell’Utri, and the President of the Municipal Council Giuseppe Castronovo. The Solidarnosc Centre of Gdansk supervises and stages the exposition in collaboration with the City of Torino, the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Milan, the Polish Community of Torino, the Readers’ Club and Torino Spirituality.

Cannes Cinéma - 50 years of the Festival through the Traverso Collection

Cannes CinémaOn June 16th 2009 press conference, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of the City of Torino in charge of Culture and of the 150th anniversary of Italy’s unification, Fiorenzo Alfieri, at the National Cinema Museum of Torino, to present the photographic exhibition dedicated to the Festival of Cannes, portraied through the clicks of the Traverso family who immortalizes its outstanding moments since four generations, by seizing its graceful instants, perpetuating the superb postures, fixing the beauty along the time. The inauguration of the exhibition, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor in charge of Demographic, Electoral, Statistical services, Cooperation and International Affairs of the City of Torino, Michele Dell’Utri, followed the press conference.

The exhibition, hosted by the Mole Antonelliana from June 16th 2009 to August 30th 2009, it’s an initiative promoted on the occasion of the decennial of the frendship agreement between the City of Torino and the City of Cannes, to which Torino is grateful for its collaboration and with whom other common activities has already been carried out during the year, from the earlier exchange between school institutions of the two cities, to the more recent exchange of Municipal Police officers.
