This museum was opened by Don Bosco in 1879 within the Valsalice Institute, Turin's Salesian school. Alongside an initial and extensive ornithological collection, acquired for didactic purposes, the museum houses considerable scientific material from donations and purchases, and over 4,000 mineral specimens of high quality from throughout the world.
