Urban Barriera

Objectives:

> renewal and definition of new functions for public spaces in urban deteriorated areas;
> improving the standards of public spaces and green areas, stimulating inhabitants to meet and to promote social integration;
> supporting sustainable urban mobility.

Activities:

Ex-Incet renewal
On the former site of the Incet factory building rehabilitation is carried out in order to bring to fruition a multifunctional center for community services. In the same area an infant and nursery school will be built.

Renewal of public bath facilities/social and cultural center via Agliè
Renewal project of the building, aiming to achieve environmental sustainability and accessibility for disabled.

Renewal of former farmhouse Marchesa
Renewal of Sport Halls spaces of the complex of former farmhouse Marchesa (roof, pedestrian connections) and renovation of two areas for open‐air activities: a courtyard/playing area and a green area for the children of the Infant School.

New Spina 4 Park
Construction of a new urban Park (43.000 mq) in the area of the former Iveco factory.

Renewal of green area ex Ceat
Renewal of the courtyard of the former Ceat factory (16.000 mq) in order to become an equipped green area (project completed in 2012).

School playground renewal
Renewal of 4 school courtyards;  experimentation of a modality to open the playgrounds to all citizens out of the school hours.

Renewal of green areas
Renewal of a complex of underused green areas next to the old part of the district, aiming to create a new organic and structured «green system» and to make it more accessible by the inhabitants.

Renewal of the residual spaces
Renewal of 3 residual areas (a playing area and two crossroad areas located in the center of the old and historical part of the district), aiming to increase their use by the inhabitants as important resting and meeting areas.

New bicycle path
Construction of a new bicycle path to promote intra-district connection and increasing the bicycle paths network in the north of Turin.

Renewal of the historical area
Renewal of the historical part of the district, aiming to value the «minor city-center» function and to promote the use by the inhabitants.
