Description: the project aims for an enhancement and durable institutionalisation of functional cooperation between the municipalities of the urban centre and smaller cities and towns located in the hinterland of transnationally networked urban regions. This main objective goes hand in hand with the aims to strengthen the competitive advantage of the urban region towards external investors, to promote the area’s attractiveness for its residents, and to maintain the environmental quality of its natural open spaces. More specifically, the transnational consortium has the goal to identify suitable good practices, to elaborate and test innovative approaches based on voluntary intermunicipal cooperation, and to negotiate agreements that lead to a durable establishment of joint land use management structures. In addition, the transnational network of urban regions will put forward a position paper and recommendations regarding the impacts of current European strategies on urban region’s development.
