The OECD launched the Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth Initiative in 2016. Champion Mayors form a coalition of willing leaders who have committed to tackling inequalities and promoting more inclusive economic growth in cities. By joining this global coalition, mayors have the opportunity to exchange directly with local leaders worldwide to share strategies for more inclusive cities, access an interactive web platform of good policies and practices, and ensure that local perspectives help shape national strategies and international agendas. The Champion Mayors initiative counts on a range of supporting institutions to help shape its work, including the Ford Foundation, Cities Alliance, ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, Bloomberg Philanthropies, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and United Way Worldwide.

 

The City of Torino joined it in 2023.
