The City of Torino, together with the Gruppo Torinese Trasporti which manages the public transport network was the guest of honour at the European biannual Fair of Mobility - Transport Public 2012, which gets together in Paris, from June 5th to June 7th the protagonists of public transport and of European sustainable transports. It’s an award to the Italian City that invested the most in public transports and gave a central role in its development strategy to sustainable mobility, proposing itself as a candidate to become a smart city model. The fair reachs out 30thousands square metres of exposing surface; over the three days 10 thousands specialized operators take part in the fair: 250 stands for international exhibitors coming from 50 countries and 250 officially recognized journalists. The stand of Torino at the fair has been realized in cooperation with GTT, Agenzia della Mobilità Metropolitana, CSI Piemonte, 5T and the Chamber of Commerce of Torino.
On June 5th the Managing Director of GTT Roberto Barbieri and the Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino attended the Fair and spoke at the presentation "GTT, European Company for intermodal transport on the international market". Then the delegation of Torino took part in the inauguration Ceremony of the fair, in the presence of the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Energy Nicole Bricq who also visited the stand of Torino. On June 6th the Deputy Mayor in charge of Road System, Infrastructures, Transports and Mobility of the City of Torino Claudio Lubatti took part in one forum of the Fair, giving a speech on the specific issue of the investments for a sustainable mobility.
The mission has also been an occasion to open or to deepen the relationships with different interlocutors: the Mayor Fassino and the Diplomatic Advisor, in the morning of June 5th met the General Director of the Institut Français Sylviane Tarsot-Gillery, in order to discuss the project of a France dedicated Festival to be realized in Torino in February 2013 while in the evening they have been welcomed by the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë with whom several possibilities of cooperation between the two cities in different fields have been discussed. The Deputy Mayor Lubatti instead, met Philippe Deslandes, Chairman of the National Committee for Public Debate on large-scale projects CNDP.
