A large delegation of the territori, led by the Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino and the Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture of the City of Torino Maurizio Braccialarghe, went on a mission to Lyon to revive the cooperation between the two cities by signing a new Agreement.
The Mayor Fassino has been welcomed in the morning of May 16th by the Mayor of Lyon, in the presence of the Ambassador of the Italian Republic in France Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri and he then spoke, together with the Deputy Mayor Braccialarghe, to the Deputy Mayor in charge of International Affairs and Tourism of Lyon Jean-Michel Daclin, with the Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture of Lyon Georges Képénékian. Following the meeting, in front of the press, Mayor Fassino and Mayor Collomb signed the new Agreement between Lyon and Torino which focuses on the following issues: “smart cities” strategies, urban transformation and regeneration, culture, communication and tourist promotion, gastronomy, education, health care and social policies, economic development.
In the afternoon, the different partners of the mission, representatives of several Services of the Administration, of the Università degli Studi, of the Politecnico di Torino, of the Festival Torino Danza, of Environment Park, of Torino Wireless and of the Aree Protette del Po e della Collina Torinese followed a tight schedule of bilateral meetings. The Mayor Fassino and the Deputy Mayor Braccialarghe instead took part, together with Mayor Collomb, to the inauguration in the “Labo Européen des Festivals”. The whole mission then had the chance to assist to the presentation of the transformations projects Lyon Confluence and Lyon Part Dieu. In the evening the mission finally took part in the inauguration of the “Nuits Sonores”.
