The Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino took part as a speaker in the Urban Forum 2012 organized by the European Commissioner for Regional Policies Johannes Hahn. The meeting was focused on the improvement of the urban dimension of the cohesion policy for the period 2014-2020.

The European Commission pursues in fact the aim to settle a long term interaction with the European mayors in order to identify the future challenges at a urban level. In particular, the Forum dealt with the role of cities in the promotion of sustainable growth. More than 400 mayors from European cities, representatives of the European Parliament, of the Regional Committee and of the European Commission took part in it.
