Coordinated by the International Affairs Departments and the Large Urban Projects Department several officers of the City of Torino took part in technical visits to Vienna, Hamburg, Lyon, Marseille and Barcelona which involved from time to time staff from the City Planning Division, the Infrastructures and Mobility Department, the Public Green Works Department, the Urban Valorisation Strategies Department, the Labour, Training and Economic Development Division as well as from the Metropolitan Urban Centre, the Piemonte Agency for Investments, Export and Tourism and Amiat, interested in the issue of urban transformations and their financing.
On September 14th and 15th Torino went to Vienna to study its Central Station and Erdberger Mais urban development projects. During the visit the delegation was welcomed by the Vice Mayor Maria Vassilakou, and it also met representatives of the Vienna Business Agency and visited Siemens City. On September 19th and 20th the delegation headed to Hamburg where it had the chance to study in depth the Hafen City and Elbphilarmonie transformation interventions.
From September 26th to 30th then the delegation visited one after the other Lyon, Marseille and Barcelona. In Lyon the Confluence transformation intervention and the Part Dieu projects were discussed. In Marseille, where the delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor in charge of Sustainable Urban Development and Territorial Climate Plan Bernard Susini, the meetings focused the urban evolution of the French city and in particular the Euroméditerranée intervention. Finally in Barcelona the delegation visited the District 22@ and discussed on the future infrastructural strategic projects of the Catalan capital
