Two members of the City Council, Maria Lucia Centillo e Roberto Ravello, the pro-Chancellor of the Università degli Studi of Torino and the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce Industry Agriculture Handicrafts of Torino, Guido Bolatto, took also part in the mission led by the Mayor Chiamparino.
The agenda of the delegation scheduled visits and meetings in the cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Fès, whose main issues were the economic and cultural cooperation, the relations and the exchanges among Cities and last but not least the academic cooperation.
In Rabat the first of several and important meetings was with Reda Chami, Moroccan Minister of Industry, Commerce and New Technologies. After that the Mayor Chiamparino met the Mayor of Rabat, Fathallah Oualalou, and signed a Cooperation Agreement focusing on the exchange of experiences on matters of common interest, the economic cooperation and the cultural exchange. The Mayor Chiamparino was also received by the Ambassador of Italy in Rabat, Umberto Lucchesi Palli at his official Residence and met the Minister in charge of the Moroccan Communities abroad, Mohamed Ameur, who suggested to formalize a well structured cooperation in the field of the integration of the Moroccan community in Torino. Last but not least, the Deputy of the Assembly of the Representatives of Morocco, Nezha Elouafi, together with a group of Moroccan women elected in the local administrations, organised a meeting at the Parliament whose focus was the promotion of gender equality.
In Casablanca the delegation took part in a Round Table organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Torino at the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), focusing on the chances of cooperation within the fields of Information and Communication Technologies, Real Estates and Environment. After that the Chamber of Commerce of Torino and the Chamber of Commerce of Casablanca signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Finally the Mayor Chiamparino met the Mayor of Casablanca, Mahamed Sajid, who suggested to activate a deeper cooperation between the two cities.
In Fès the delegation was received by the Mayor Hamid Chabat, who organized a Round Table with representatives of the local economy, the cultural sector and the academic one. During the meeting a collaboration path was scheduled aiming at the signature of an agreement in 2010.
The mission, that involved many actors from the territory of Torino, was coordinated by International Affairs Department of the City of Torino in collaboration with the Ambassy of Italy in Rabat and with the Cities of Rabat and Fès.
