Following the signature of the agreement between the City of Torino and the City of Fès back in 2010, some technical meeting and exchanges were ser aiming at designing a joint initiative, involving MI.TO and the Festival des Musiques Sacrées du Monde of Fès.

The agreement finally became concrete in 2012 with an exchange of concerts between the two Festivals.

The exchange was taken care of by prof. Rostagno, Claudio Merlo and the Culture Division: on June 12th the Musée Batha of Fès staged the Cantica Symphonia ensemble, vocal-instrumental band which plays the traditional repertoire of medieval and renaissance polyphony, while on September 13th in Torino and September 14th in Milan the Ensemble Ikhwan al Fan groupe de chants sama'a arabo-andalou played some chants and pieces of music of the centuries-old arab-andalusian tradition.
