The President of the Cultural Commission of the Municipal council of the City of Torino Luca Cassiani went on a mission to Nagoya to take part in the 60th edition of the Festival of Twin Cities. The mission was the occasion to reinforce the relationships between the two cities, bond by a twinning agreement signed in 2005, and to improve reciprocal cooperation, mainly in the cultural and artistic fields.
The mission in fact scheduled some institutional meetings: on October 17th the Councillor met the Mayor of Nagoya Takashi Kawamura, the President of the Municipal Council Harumi Ukai and the Vice President Yoshihiro Miwa, he then took part in the ceremony "Torino Design Bus": as a matter of fact three decorated buses serving in Nagoya are "signed" Torino and display characteristic elements of our city; the author is Alessia Frau, student at the third year of the Institute of Applied Arts and Design of Torino. This nice promotion initiative comes from the cooperation between the IAAD and the City of Nagoya; The work of Alessia Frau has been selected through a kind of referendum by the citizens of the Japanese town. In the afternoonthen the Councillor participated in the welcoming reception of the Association of the Cities Twinned with Nagoya, in the presence of many local authorities. The following day he then took part with the Deputy Mayor of Nagoya Teruo Shinkaiin the opening ceremony of the Festival of Twin Cities 2014 and in the evening he met the Deputy Mayor Masamichi Tamia. Finally, on October 19th he took part in the Parade of Twin Cities and headed back to Torino the following day.
