The 1991 Nobel Prize for peace, Aung San Suu Kyi, was received, in the presence of the highest civil and military authorities, in the Red Hall, for the award of the honorary citizenship, approved with a motion on June 14th 2010, for her political commitment in Burma aiming at affirming the principles of democracy, peace and protection of human rights and at ensuring a government system based on truth, justice and kindness.
The ceremony followed the greetings of the Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino, of the President of the Municipal Council Giovanni Maria Ferraris and Aung San Suu Kyi, she was given the scroll and the plate of the City by the Mayor and the President and she signed the Golden Book of the honorary citizens of Torino.
