The Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino led a territorial mission, which included the City of Torino, the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Torino and Turismo Torino e Provincia, in collaboration with the Vueling airline that inaugurated a direct flight Torino-Barcelona.

The City of Torino organized on March 11th , in cooperation with Turismo Torino e Provincia, the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Torino, the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona and ENIT, the event "Torino: a city to discover. Arts, economy, tourism and innovation" at the Casa Llotja de Mar, with speeches of the Ambassador of Italy in Madrid, the Mayor of Torino, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Torino and the Marketing Director of Turismo Torino e Provincia. A promotional meeting with journalists of the main local newspaper forerun the event.

The mission was also the occasion for revamping the already long-lasting active economic and cultural cooperation between the two cities, which was the subject of the meeting between the Mayor Piero Fassino and the Mayor of the City of Barcelona Xavier Trias i Vidal de Llobatera.

Along the mission the delegation also met the President of the Generalidad de Catalunya Artur Mas, the Director General of the Palau de la Música Catalana Joan Oller, the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona Miquel Valls i Maseda, the Director of the MACBA - Museu d'Art Contemporanei de Barcelona Bartomeu Marí, the Deputy Director of the MNAC - National Museum of Catalan Art and Jordi Pujol, former President of the Generalidad de Catalunya.

In the same days was also scheduled the presence of Torino at the BIO-Europe Spring conference, to be hosted in Torino in 2014.
