A delegation from Japan - composed by experts in the field of town planning and estate and led by Mr. Masahisa Yamaguchi - met the Managers of the International Affairs Department and of the Town Planning and Estate Department of the City of Turin. The meeting was about public expropriation.
On 15th October 2005 in the framework of the Torino Food Market Festival, the Deputy Mayor of Barcellona Jordi Portabella i Calvete and the Mayor of Torino Sergio Chiamparino, signed the agreement between the Markets of the two Cities (Boqueria and Porta Palazzo). The twinning aims at encouraging the cooperation and at the creation of the European Market Association.
A delegation composed by the Mayor of Fukuroi Mr. Hideyuki Harada, the Mayor of Ono Mr. Tsutomu Horai, the Vice Mayor of Okazaki Mr. Hiroya Maki, the Vice Mayor of Toyota Mr. Kiyomi Nakamura, as representatives of the Japan Association City Mayors, was received by the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chiamparino. The theme of the meeting was urban regeneration: the activities of the Neighbourhood Department of the City of Turin were presented.
A delegation composed by the Finnish Ambassador to Italy Mr. Alec Aalto and the Honorary Consul Mr. Antonio Dionisio met the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chiamparino.
A delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan led by the Azeri Ambassador to Italy Mr. Emil Z. Karino met the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chiamparino. The theme of the meeting was the possibility of a twinning agreement between Turin and the City of Ganja and the visit to Italy of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in 2006.
Fifth event of the Future Cities Program, organized by the City of Turin, Fondazione Atrium and Torino Internazionale. This day will be entirely dedicated to the City of Manchester, which was in the past an industrial city like Turin and hosted an important sports event. This experience has set off a radical change, linking the cultural strategies of the two cities.
A delegation from the City of Nagoya composed by Town Councillors and led by the Town Councillor Mr. Kohei Kuno was received by the President of Turin City Council Mr. Alessandro Altamura and by the Vice-President Mr. Michele Coppola. They discussed about various proposals aiming at encouraging the cooperation between Torino and Nagoya; among them, the creation of an Italian-Japanese University of Design.
A delegation composed by French Senators and led by the French Consul General in Turin, Mrs. Odile Remik, was received by the President of Turin City Council, Mr. Alessandro Altamura. The themes of the meeting were: the inadequate communication routes between the two sides of the Western Alps, the crisis of the car industry and the many transformations in the City of Turin.
