On February 25th 2005 at ATRIUM Torino, the first of the series of events entitled "Future Cities" took place. The day was entirely dedicated to the City of Nagoya and the Expo Aichi 2005, and promoted the twinning between the two cities, which will be signed in May in the Japanese city.
The General Consul of Croatia, Mr Andro Knego, met the Mayor Sergio Chiamparino. They discussed the possibility of a presentation of Croatia in Turin during the year, and the Croatian sports delegations during the Turin Olympics.
On Monday February 15th 2005, the Mayor Chiamparino met a delegation led by the Mayor of Bagdad Ala’Al Tamini in Palazzo Civico. During the meeting, the difficult situation of the Iraqi city and the possible forms of cooperation aiming at a better quality of life of its inhabitants have been discussed. The two Mayors also talked about projects regarding training for the management of water (Hydroaid) and waste.
A delegation from the City of Shenyang composed of the Assistant Director of the Department for Economy and Technology of the City of Shenyang Mr Zhou Hang, the Director of the Department for Investment in Europe and America of the Development Zone Mr Ma Yuzhi, met the Mayor Chiamparino for the twentieth anniversary of the twinning between Shenyang and Turin. During the meeting, the contents of the twinning between the two cities signed twenty years ago were discussed. The delegation also met the President of the Teatro Stabile Agostino Re Rebaudengo, who proposed to set up exanges in the field of theatre and drama between the two cities.
The Vice President of the Rhone Alpes Region, Mr Philip Thierry, was received in Turin by the Mayor Chiamparino, to discuss the possible collaboration initiatives in view of the Olympic Games.
