The Bulgarian Vice Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Valery Apostolov was received by the Councillor for Labour and Training Policies, Tom Dealessandri. Councillor Dealessandri illustrated the policies currently enacted by the Comune di Torino.
During the meeting of the EUROMED Group of Eurocities in Mahdia (Tunisia), the Mayor of Torino, Chiamparino was elected President of the Group for the period 2005-2007. The election gives Torino a leading role in the process of involving local institutions in the Euromediterranean decision-making processes.
The Mayor Sergio Chiamparino was received by the Mayor of Tunis, Mohsen Abbès, for a working dinner, during which they discussed relations between Torino and Tunis and possible opportunities for cooperation, in particular with regard to the development of the ‘information-based society’.
A delegation from the City of Bagneux (France), led by the Councillor for Culture, Catherine Potvin, was received by the Vice President of the City Council, Michele Coppola. The meeting concerned the twinning of Bagneux and the VI District of the Comune di Torino.
A delegation from the City of Sault St. Marie (Toronto - Canada) was received by the Vice President of the City Council, Michele Coppola. This was an institutional meeting held during the Canadian delegation’s economic mission to Italy.
Councillor Dealessandri received a delegation from the Province of Santa Fé (Argentina). This was an institutional meeting in relation to an economic mission from the Argentine delegation.
From June 3rd to 5th the Mayor Sergio Chiamparino visited the Czech
Republic in order to open new contacts with the cities of the new
European countries.
Accompanied by the President of GTT Giancarlo Guiati and the Managing
Director, Davide Gariglio, he also visited the Siemens factory in
Prague, where the carriages for Line 1 of the Torino underground railway
are being built.
The Mayor Sergio Chiamparino met the Mayor of Nagoya in order to study the contents of the collaboration between their cities in the economic and cultural fields. The Mayor Matsubara invited the Mayor Chiamparino to Nagoya in order to sign the twinning agreement on the occasion of the 2005 Aichi Expo.
The Mayor Chiamparino launched in Lyon the proposal to organize - together with Mayors for Peace and in collaboration with TOROC - an international event to present the Olympic Truce during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
