Founded in 1729 already by the 1820s the gardens containedan orangery, a hothouse and herbarium-museum. In about 1835 a small wood was annexed to it and further additions were made at the turn of the century. It was reopened to the public in 1997 to exhibit local flora, useful species and exotic rarities. The wooded area contains trees typical of the western area of the Po Valley.
