Il "MODULATOR # 1" genera uno spettacolo televisivo in diretta completamente nuovo e irripetibile mescolando insieme dei frammenti casuali provenienti da due diversi "veri" spettacoli televisivi in diretta. Il pensiero alla base è quello di convertire gli innumerevoli e spesso noiosi spettacoli televisivi che vanno in onda ogni giorno in contemporanea in una nuova avventura visiva e uditiva. Ciò viene ottenuto utilizzando dei sensori che reagiscono ai cambiamenti continui di intensità luminosa e di volume sonoro e di modulazione emessi dai due programmi televisivi. Un sistema complesso di specchi in movimento governato da questi sensori è poi monitorato ininterrottamente da una videocamera che assorbe queste nuove strutture informative ed elabora il risultato su un monitor finale. Pertanto il "MODULATOR # 1" è la macchina tritatutto e "di riciclaggio" per eliminare la parte ad alta tecnologia più indigesta della nostra cultura televisiva attuale.

The "MODULATOR # 1" generates a completely new, non-retrievable "Live TV Show" by merging at random fragments from two different "genuine" live telecasts. The thinking behind the project is to convert the countless and simultaneous daily TV-Shows in their often-boring variety into a new visual and acoustic adventure. This is achieved by using sensors reacting to the continuous change of light intensity and sound volume and modulations emitted by the two telecasts. A complex moving mirror system governed by these sensors is then continuously scanned by a camera that absorbs these new information structures and feeds the result to an output monitor. Thus, "MODULATOR # 1" is the shredding and recycling machine to dispose of the mostly indigestible high-tech "Super-Highlights" of our current TV-culture.
