Le mie storie iniziano là dove nella vita finisce il linguaggio. Ciò che, muto, non detto, sta tra le persone, e le nostalgie e i desideri inespressi. Pensieri di cui non si parla perché ci si rende sostanzialmente ridicoli con le proprie pretese nei confronti delle persone e della vita. Trovare un linguaggio per tutto questo, una forma letteraria che scoperchi e tuttavia non sacrifichi, che sia semplice e tuttavia a più strati. Innanzitutto mi interessano il linguaggio e la forma. Le storie si raccontano da sole. Accadono naturalmente e innegabilmente, come la vita, è da ciò che mi lascio sorprendere quando scrivo. Se già prima sapessi cosa accade, non avrei più bisogno di continuare a scrivere. Ho una struttura di fondo, un’armatura: la forma è fissata e ad essa si aggancia il racconto. Se non riesco a sorprendermi, mi annoio quando scrivo. La forma, tuttavia, viene rigorosamente rispettata.

My stories begin where language ends. I write about what there is between people that is mute, unsaid, about nostalgia and unexpressed desires. Thoughts we don’t speak of because their pretences would make us ridiculous in front of others, in front of the world. I write to find a language for all this, a literary form that you uncover and in any case don’t sacrifice, that is simple but at the same time many-layered. Language and form are what interest me most. Stories tell themselves. They happen, naturally and undeniably, like living things, surprising me while I write. If I already knew what was going to happen, I wouldn’t need to keep writing. I have a basic structure, a framework, a fixed form that seems to hook the story. If I’m not surprised I get bored when I write. The form, however, is always respected.
