La serie "Rottami di automobili" è stata realizzata nel 1998 come sviluppo della serie "Specchi", eseguita a Venezia nello stesso anno, e può essere avvicinata alle diverse serie dei vestiti o degli abiti, nelle quali viene utilizzato lo stesso artificio prospettico di ribaltamento nel piano frontale del quadro. Un altro elemento comune a queste fotografie è il fatto che tutte vertono alla rappresentazione di cose che sono state "abitate" - che si tratti di abiti o di abitacoli di automobili - e da cui si sprigiona una certa impressione di morte o di assenza. Queste fotografie svolgono un duplice compito: quello della rappresentazione, in particolare del corpo e della sua messa in prospettiva, e quello dell’evocazione o della memoria.

The series "Automobile Wrecks" was realised in 1998 as a development of the series "Mirrors" executed in Venice in the same year. It can be considered as near to those diverse series of clothes, or suits, that use the same perspective artifice of overturning the frontal plan of the frame. Another common element to these photographs is the fact that they all are concerned with the representation of things that have been "lived in", be they clothes or automobile interiors, which give off a certain sense of death, or absence. These photographs perform a twofold function: that of representation, of the body in particular and in perspective; and that of evocation, or of memory.
